Who we are
Dashmesh Darbar is a Sikh Gurdwara on Archibald Street in Winnipeg. It is the place of worship and the community home of the Ramgarhia Association of Manitoba Inc, a registered Canadian charity.
Our doors are open to everyone, whatever their faith or background. There is no charge for anything we do, and everything here is run by volunteers from the community.
Our mission
Dashmesh Darbar exists for the betterment of the community in the areas of social, cultural, education and religion. That is the purpose the charity is registered under, and it is what the Gurdwara does every week.
In plain words: feed anyone who is hungry, look after the people around us, pass our faith and culture on to our children, and give newcomers to Canada a place to start.
What we do
Every week, for the people of Winnipeg. All of it free, all of it run by volunteers.
Free community kitchen
A hot vegetarian meal, free, for anyone who walks in. Nobody is asked who they are or what they believe.
Worship and kirtan
Sikh religious services and devotional music through the week, and the Sikh calendar marked through the year. Visitors of any faith are welcome.
Seva, service without reward
Nobody is paid to cook, serve, clean or teach here. The work itself is the offering.
Blood donation camps
We organise blood donation drives and bring our members out to give. It costs the donor nothing and it goes straight back into the city.
Food drives
We collect and hand out food for families in Winnipeg who are going without. The need does not stop at the end of winter.
Children and youth
Summer camps and weekend classes, so children learn their faith, their language and their music.
Seniors
Group activities that give older members company, a routine and a place to belong.
Newcomer support
Practical help for people who have just arrived in Canada and are finding their feet.
Space for the community
The Gurdwara hall is used for religious ceremonies and community gatherings through the year.

You are welcome at Dashmesh Darbar whether you have been coming for years or have never set foot in a Gurdwara before. You do not need an invitation, an appointment, or any knowledge of the faith.
